What is a Preliminary Site Investigation?
A Preliminary Site Investigation is commonly an early stage of contaminated-land assessment. It can review historical and current land uses, available records, potentially contaminating activities, site setting and other evidence relevant to contamination risk.
The purpose is not simply to produce a generic report. The investigation should respond to the property, trigger and decision that needs to be made.
When might you need a PSI?

What happens after a PSI?
If the preliminary investigation identifies potential contamination requiring further assessment, a Detailed Site Investigation may be recommended. Other sites may require different follow-up depending on the evidence and project requirements.
